how many people in the congress of the united states do you think are anti-american? you've already suspected barack obama. is he alone? are there others? how many do you suspect of your colleagues as being anti-american? >> what i would say, what i would say is that the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look. i wish they would. i wish the american media would take a great look at the views of the people in congress and find out, are they pro-america or anti-america? i think people would be -- would love to see an expose like that. >> well, mr. graves, i hate to admit, i shirked on that response but have not conducted a joe mccarthy-style probe in my small role here of the loyalty of the democratic members of congress. what do you make of having an opponent like that? what would you make hay out of that crazy comment? >> krirchris, i'll tell you, it started on your channel and show, she keeps going. she keeps going. she'ses actually coming after me. she likes to tread on fear and separation. that's her whole mantra. and i think it's getting old. >>

imagine the united states, if they had done -- what macho would have said. everybody, like the boston massacre, just mow down everybody trying to cross the embassy walls, just kill them all. >> right. >> what's sad, also, is that we're actually paying any attention to sarah palin. let's be clear here, sarah palin's constituency are people who wear red rubber noses and bells on their shoes. but what's noteworthy here is that sarah palin speaks for, what, maybe half of the republican party. and as joan mentioned, she sounds -- and if she and mitt romney sound just alike right now. >> well, you just said two different things, ron, my friend. you said that she doesn't speak for anybody. then -- or she doesn't have a constituency, and then you said she speaks for half the party. >> no, no, no. i'm saying we shouldn't pay attention to her because her constituency are ignorant and foolish people, but ignorant and foolish people make up about half of the republican party right now. that's what i'm saying. and that's the only thing noteworthy about what she's doing.

he thinks the president has been too apologetic on behalf of the united states. although for people have pointed out the president in this case and others was not apologizing for the united states. and he thinks the president is not managing foreign policy well. there is one issue -- at least one factual issue i'm sure caught their eye which was release of the statement by the embassy in cairo. there's a question about how that statement got put out. it's not the best worded statement as possible. in that part of the world, there is a management question, from the state department, that needs to be looked into. how do statements get released on twitter and elsewhere that could cause a political problem? how it went from mitt romney to his staff deciding to do it aggressively, i don't know yet. but i will say that there is -- as i said at the beginning, there is legitimate things to look at here. but for mitt romney in the heat of it without the facts to start to raise issues like this, again, i think is misguided. and i think you see in this campaign on both side

is that any reason to make some guy president of the united states? is it. there's a reason obama got a bounce and romney did a thud. one guy people really love in charlotte giving the speeches of their lives, bill and michelle and deval patrick and castro. remember what romney got? chris christie up there giving testimonials to themselves. they barely got around to paying for their supper they were so full of themselves. romney has had two chippies going over to get acquainted with the brits and going to tampa to get the kudos. in both cases he ended up laying more eggs than the easter bunny but people like the easter bu y bunny. joining me is howard fineman and jim vandehei. it seems to me what happened the last two weeks was patently obvious. within convention worked, one didn't. one was sweet, one was sour. one you felt the vibes of happiness. the other one was you felt something but it was usually hatred of the president. >> yeah. well, chris, i spent every evening on the floor of the convention at both conventions, and at the republican convention ther

that tony get together where the republican nominee for president of the united states shared his deepest beliefs about the two kinds of people in this country, those who give, like him, and those who take and loaf and vote for obama. joining me now is david karn with brother jones the author of "show down and john heilemann. we have new tape to show you from that fund-raiser including what said about the israeli/palestinian conflict. before we get to that, here is that shocking tape from romney talking about the 47% of americans who he says are definitely not voting for -- are definitely voting for obama, not for him. he was answering a question from a donor apparently. the tape was first posted by the great mother jones magazine. let's watch. >> 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. all right. there are 47% who are with him who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they're entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. it's entitlement
